Found this perforated lead object. Any ideas on what it might be?

Looks like a drain screen for something they don't want to get plugged up in the pipe. What???

Hmm... It's shaped like the toe of a shoe or a clothes iron. Any other ideas? Not too sure it's for a drain although I see what you mean... Whatever it is it's gonna be melted down and made into boolits sooner or later haha!

Are you sure it is lead?

I am 100% sure it's lead. It's very easy to bend and has the weight and feel of lead. The darker side seems to be coated with a thin layer of some other type of metal or adhesive or something?

I'm wondering if it could be the top portion to an iron rest plate?

I thought that too Breezie but this surely would have been one small iron...

I agree, but irons were smaller back then. I've got 3 flat irons here, and none measure over 6 inches tall.

Looks like an old trolling lure. Could it have been spoon shaped?

I'm sure it could have been shaped differently than it is now. It wasn't spoon shaped when I found it but it was a little bent out of shape. There must be some reason it's made out of lead and I bet it's for its softness rather than its weight. One thought that crossed my mind is that it might have been used as a gasket. But for what? I don't know.

My first though was part of an iron as well but all of the old irons I've seen were thicker and made of iron. Lead just seems like an inappropriate material for that application.

It was found about 380 miles from the nearest beach. I was told there was once an old house on the site. A list of of other items I found there might help with the identification.

2 Wheat Pennies
1 Trade Token
Accordion Reed
Harmonica Reed
Part of a Model T Coil Box
Model T Headlight Socket
Brass Cattle Tag
Horse Tack
Small White Marble
Folding Knife
Fixed Blade Knife

Reflector Flare
Lots of broken glass.
Bed Finials
Mason Jar Lids
