Lead solder bar? and ... No Clue!

Note the raised parallel lines setting off the lettering on the bar; letters are "NED" and "ME"(metal?). This may be a type of solder lead.

Close inspection of the other object shows it to be turned brass. Not certain, but there may have been more to the thin end. Doubt that this is any sort of whistle. lettered bar -NED  ME-.webpwhistle.webp
 

might be part of a steam whistle, like on a steam donkey, or a mill whistle ???

The "lead bar" may be bar solder or babbitt which is used to fill imperfections in a bearing race.

The brass piece might be part of an on valve, similar to this one:

Brass piece looks like a valve part to me too.
