So, I've got a good grip on deep targets and hunting in trash. Now, I want to get really good at getting the gold. As always, lots of patience and practice are required. Today I spent some time at the old ball diamond. Here's what I came away with. Not shown is the foil and some targets that fooled me - smaller bits of can slaw.

Always tough getting to know a new machine. Looks like the Nike ring is made out of copper?

ah yes, forgot to mention that. it is. i really liked how the deus sounds on the mid tones - made it pretty easy to distinguish, esp. in full tones.

i would agree. the previous rings i have found on other detectors definitely were very strong and consistent. i've never found a gold chain. i'm sure that would be much more iffy of a signal - unless it was a big chain.

I swing the F75LTDSE, I have only dug 3 gold items in 25 months. When I get a good mid tone and see a constant VDI reading, I dig, if the VDI jumps around 3 or more digits, I figure it's and alloy and not gold.

thanks for the info - squares with my experience. May you get another one soon!
