You seem to be the friendliest and most motivating from what you find...I know proofs are keepers, 1987, and 1964-1969. What about '70? One said yes and one told me no.
1970 is a keeper for sure. I have never come across one yet and been looking hard too....lol. Every once in a while I'll see a 79 that makes me gasp because at first glance I take the 9 for a 0 then I come back down to earth....hehehe.
PW - Two so far.....great job. Kudos. One is for me right.....ha!
They minted a little over 2 million 70-D's and little over 2 1/2 million 70-S'. That is not many at all looking at the big picture.
I am not LJ either but from what I have seen, both the 70-D and 70-S are keepers. I think the 70D is more of a keeper since there is a place for it in most JFK books. The 70S is only in the albums that hold the proof coins.
The 1970 US half dollar, whether from Denver or Frisco (there were none from Philly that year), are both 40%ers. (the last year of silver clad.........barring 90's proofs) .
Their volumes are low as they were only offered in either Mint or Proof Sets; respectively.
So, yes, when you combine their low mintages with their silver clad status, yes, they are very collectable and sought after.
