Greetings Friends,
I was getting all geared up for my first trip out to a local "treasure island" for the first time in two years. See, the weather here in Florida has been too hot to make any kayak trips, so I was waiting for late Sept/early Oct to head out.... I got some new information about the site that I'm chomping at the bit to go and investigate. For security reasons I only go out there on weekdays because it's a very busy area for boaters of all types. Getting there on a Monday morning with all my gear gives me the opportunity to have the place to myself so to speak. Naturally, I don't like to attract attention to myself.
Then a funny thing happened. After being away from my regular, but seasonal job for two and half months and no immediate prospects for another one, I responded last Sunday to an ad in the paper for a local job fair. The company handles government contract work and hired me and hundreds of others right there on the spot. On the one hand the pay is great! :icon_thumleft: On the other hand though, it is after all "government work" and we all know how effective they are at managing and solving problems.... Can you say 'cluster____' ?Actually, I think an all out orgy of drunken chimpanzees would show more organization!!!
Anyway, my dream site is back on hold again. "Work Wife" is doing fine and upwardly mobile in her current career path so life is good right? Then why is the treasure hunter in me still screaming for appeasement...? ???

Man I hope you get to investigate that site and let us know how it comes out! On the other hand, congrats on the job. I may be looking for one in a couple of weeks when my company does a 'management restructure'. The deciding factor will be if you make too much money. If I lose it, I think I shall become a 'union organizer'.

If you become a union organizer, does that mean you might run for Prez. someday? lol. Prolly do a better job than the one we have now...

My youngest son, 40, with 3 kids, called today to advise that he got a 60-day-farewell-notice from his 6-figure-a-year job. Yep...management restructure! The good news is he's also getting a check for 10% of his annual salary. I hope he's got it all in writing!

We were promised change...remember?

Be very thankful that you were able to land a job :hello2: Once you pass 55 potential employers are looking to younger, less experienced workers to cut their costs. I am still waiting for my bailout :help: :laughing9:
