Life in the fields of grass

Just a few I took this last 3 day weekend out in the field. The first is a western king bird and the second is an eastern king bird. I can never get really close to these guys as they don't ever sit still and are always busy catching insects. They seem to wait for the bugs to fly directly over them and quickly fly up and snatch the bug out of the air. Fun to watch they are and the eastern king bird is much more rare to see around here than the western king bird. Others of course a common morning dove sitting on a dead cottonwood tree and mama prairie dog with a couple of new pups keeping an eye on me and two dogs.
