I'm curious if lincoln cents are considered better in the uncirculated gold condition, or if they have the nice red aging to them?

I ask because I'm trying to determine if I should replace some uncirculated 60s in my book with some nice red/gold ones?

Thanks
Scott

The "red" is much more desirable than the "gold" ones so long as one doesn't sacrifice details.

scotty1418,

Cents fresh from the mint are defined as "red". As they are exposed to the atmosphere they develop a golden hue and or a mottled "red/brown" appearance before they go total brown. As far as value goes, red or R is the best, then red/brown or RB, and finally brown or Br. The golden hue you describe is an impaired "red".
