Detector(s) used
WHITES 5900, MXT 300, MXT PRO, MXT ALL PRO/ 8X6 SEF COIL
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Just wanted to ask .I own the mxtpro and I used it the other day with the stock 300 coil and it was so noisy that I had to turn the gain down to 3 to quite it down.Had mxt 300 and never noticed that problem.I have been using a sef 6x8 for all relic hunting and detecting and this coil is top with this unit.Has anyone experienced this with theres. Also want to say I am grateful to read a lot of post with imfo pertaining to metal detecting.Having a head injury and the results are severe short term memory loss this can be challenging sometimes to set machine correct to hunt.Alot of knowlegable people on this site.I still cannot figure out how to download pics but with time maybe I can show some of my finds. But I want to wish everyone a merry Christmas and may all your finds be bright.Donnie

It it a new coil? sounds like a coil or cable break or the site your on is highly mineralised

Merry Christmas to you too Donnie. Con'at answer your question but I wish you the best of luck. I did have an issue with my Garrett GTI 2500 being very noisy when the ground balance was off.

I had a 12" coil on mine
I could not keep it Ground balanced in my area. Too large of a concentric coil if your ground is bad or hot rocks abound

Also it could be faulty
Try it at another location that you know has kind soil.
