Went back to the foundation today. Only had about an hour to detect (my water heater blew up today) so I needed a little stress relief. Started to scan on my way over to the foundation and dug a cool (Chinese?) coin. When I got into the foundation I noticed an unfilled hole. (NOT MINE!!! >:() As I look around I noticed more and than more! I dig a horseshoe or large plug and when I'm done you can't tell I was there. These were like probe holes with the soil all pulled out and not refilled. Apparently someone saw me detecting and decided it was okay for them to go. I have a feeling they did it at night and just didn't bother to fill their holes. I spent the majority of my time replacing the dirt and fixing the grass that these bozos left. I went and told the neighbors that if they see anyone other than me detecting, to call the cops. Well now I had more stress and wasn't really feeling it, so I started to head back to my truck and was scanning all the way. I was where cars park for the local fair and the ground was pretty hard and a lot of trash. I got a penny/dime signal at only 1 1/2" and almost didn't dig it. To my delight it was a 1904 barber dime just an inch below the surface?? I also got a few whatzits...Rich

I have hunted a place for several years. Only I have hunted it, and knowing that I have filled all holes I will see that my holes were uncovered at times...
Squirrels and raccoons love to dig them up....
Hopefully that is the case with your site..... too.
Nice finds.....

Yes Rich, We need to stress to these folks, how important it is to fill holes even in the woods.
I took a guy out once to a spot, I then told him not to go back with out me or take any one else. A few days later, I get this phone call from an angry farmer saying, Mike, (in a southern voice) what the he** is up with all these Go* Dam* holes all over my field?" I explained I hadn't been out there and assured him I would go out an fill them in. I swear it took me 2 hours to fill all the holes in, but I did.
Now, It's hard for me to take just any one anymore in fear of poor detecting ethics.

Nice finds by the way

nice finds! i am hunting in a corn field now that i harrow every year and i still make manicured holes! congrats on the nice finds! krazyhorses

Nice looking finds Rich! Congrats on doing "the right thing" :notworthy:

I'd hide out there dressed like some psycho killer, scare em good.

Really stinks having your spots hit like that, especially when you know you're the only one with permission. Hope you can catch the clowns who did it, assuming it wasn't a squirrel or something.
Glad you came home with something for your trouble..just a shameit wasn't from your foundation.
Keep on huntin'!

I just cant understand why people dont fill their holes. Congrats on the barber.

I have had dogs and cats dig all of the sod and dirt out of holes I have filled back in. I know that no one else detected the site. Hopefully it's just an animal and not a jerky metal detectorist.

Congrats on the barber!

Great find on the Barber Rich, ignore the slob and enjoy, :hello:don't sweat the small stuff!

dem dang tree rats!!! i have seen there work on my plugs hidding nuts! nice silver!!! MR TUFF

I feel like a teacher some times when I'm at a park, People are watching me and look puzzled when i whip out my AP Digger to cut a plug!!!! Usually they ask how come i am destroying the grass etc etc, I have to explain how to properly cut a plug fold it over not destroying the roots and determining if it is wet enough before i flip it over or dig!!!!

I still enjoy every moment !!!!! I have even had park employees come over to see how I'm doing and to check out what is happening to there lawn!!! I just got a new lead on and older park that they ha vent seen any one detecting!!!! ;D ;D Have hunted it twice and it is looking very promising!!!! I wont mention where it is It is Causing me to think about every thing i Dig up!!!!! Nothing great yet but it is a very large park!!!!
