LLK & Dad tell Father-in-Law story!
I will tell you a couple stories about my Father-in-Law. We were detecting at the local high school football field and he needed to cross the field so he started walking across the 50 yard line. Three steps onto the field he got a signal and dug an 1804 large cent, filled his hole, made one swing and found an 180? half cent, not the green corroded type, these were dark brown to black. Pretty good at one of our colonial sites, except this football field was built in the 1980's! Was it a student coin drop, fill dirt
? Last year he went to Ocean City, NJ for vacation, first time out on the beach he found a 16?? Lion Dallar, a local historian said they were used in the old Dutch colonies of New York and it probably was carried there by the ocean, That coin shines like new, even though it is worn. Our motto is: You need to do your research, you never know what you will find or what condition it will be in, dig everything, and last but not least it's o.k. to be lucky!
