I dug this large brass lock and I'm stumped as to what it would have gone to. Anybody out there that has knowledge about lock styles that could help with this i.d.? I've got a front and back picture and a quarter for size comparison. Thanks!

Looks like an Escutcheon plate not the lock. Used on a desk or secretary that had a lock

As large as it is it could have been for a door

I don't know what that is. (?)
It's big.
The keyway looks "off" to me, as in "not right", but I can't put my finger on exactly why.
Also, the holes and single pin make me wonder about how this thing attached to (whatever).
And if it were an escutcheon for a lock, wouldn't one expect a brand name engraved on it (as there appears to be decorative engraving on it).

My guess is this is a part of something, but not part of a lock. (The key would be the size of a quarter -- that's pretty huge for a key -- esp. for a secretary's desk!)
