Well I'd say this does not happen to me very often when it comes to checking my pocket change.....I found this ( 1917 D ) wheat penny. Anyhow thought I would share with you all....! Oh and, does know how to clean a wheat penny? I took a few pictures as you'll see below

It pays to check your change when you get it. Just got a 1963 Roosevelt dime in change . Another girl gave me a silver quarter and she noticed the silver gleam and pulled it back before I could get it! Don't bother cleaning it- looks fine to me.

I tend to agree, no cleaning necessary it looks good as is. Good eye for change. I love looking through mine and others change for little treasures like this.

I'm with the other 2 members. I only clean coppers that come out of the dirt, because they usually need it. If you really feel the need to clean it, just soak it in olive oil for a week. It will give it a nice sheen.

What I've been told is let it soak in some acetone for a few minutes, this will extract any moisture and will stop the coin from further damage.

Thanks guys for all the great reply's

Great pocket find! Just normal wear and tear. No need to clean this one.

Good eye I always check the cash drawer at my job Ive found many wheats you would be surprised at how many wheats you can still find in penny rolls and nickels also !!!!!!

Nice wheat cent save!

I always check the change, a week ago a young lady gave me a "Canadian coin" (her words) it turned out to be a v-nickle. :icon_thumleft:

Nice find! All I find lately is pocket lint and something that went through the dryer..... Maybe I should put it on the What is it? section, that'll shake em up!!
