I would be interested in doing a hunt or so with you this summer, especially if we can get to detect some areas of the battle of Sodus point

Most of this thread is a couple years old, but it looks like the last few posters are still around.

I did some privy digging in Wayne when I worked there in the late 70s/early 80s, but I don't think I've ever been to Chimney Bluffs.

I could see making the drive for an interesting hunt.

It's beautiful! If you're a metal detector, something interesting would be the site of the Bluff Point Stoneworks at Keuka Lake. There is speculation it may have been predating the Seneca tribe in that area. Some historians believe it may have been an astrological Norse site- with evidence of Norse artifacts being found in Sodus bay area, the idea does hold tread. It's been said that there may be metal work beneath the ground using the right equipment. There has to be permissions to be on the expanse that was the ruins however I just had a fantastic haul of items from the state park close by. I can't figure out the plate shard but the bottle is FF about 40-50's I believe? Fosters and...the name escapes me- some pottery pieces and the mysterious hand made animal Hyde work. There's also a super interesting family cemetery. Of course not the cemetery but the state park (not sure how one gets detecting permissions?) Judging on the artifacts found looks like it may be a good detecting site too!

There is type face marking on the plate shard but I can't seem to locate the combination- it reads D.8 which I think is the plate size? And then it says either GEN or GFN

Look me up ,I run a business here in the area Family Mowers Lawncare, has all my info!
