Hey Dragon6banger,

Until your posting I had never heard of the Relic Hawk but I looked around and found this post on another board complete with the guys email. He is in the UK but it's all relative to the same machine right... I've quoted the full text of his post here:

Been detecting for 29 years. Started with a Savo Doublet (Whites) Tr-2D in 1978 aged 7. Used a Whites IDX from 1999 then in January 2007 aquired a Minelab Relic Hawk. Its like a veil has been lifted from my eyes.
I visited a site that I thought to have been 'worked out' years ago and after only 20 minutes uncovered a beautiful Roman Fibula Broach. Best find so far..

Good Hunting.

Just a bit more from an old Advertisement...Good luck I'm off to bed.

A world first for the serious relic hunter...

Minelab's superior technology has achieved outstanding success in military and humanitarian land de-mining markets. We now introduce this technology in a dedicated Relic Machine.

The Relic Hawk is a high performance detector that is military tough, with outstanding depth and excellent discrimination.

Features include; rugged military styling; fast shut-down between targets; simple operation and variable target selection.

The all new Mode feature lets you tailor your detecting to your specific requirements.

The Relic Hawk has been tailored specifically to suit the soil conditions of North America and Europe.

The Relic Hawk provides you with 3 modes of operation: All Metals; Pin Point; and Discriminate.

This range of controls, including discrimination, allows you to choose the type of objects you want to find, while ignoring the junk.

The all new Mode switch enables you to control the detector's sensitivity to a variety of targets.

S mode (small) Ideal for locating small, shallow targets.

M mode (normal) Default position for a wide variety of targets.

L mode (large) Ideal for locating deeper, larger targets.

The balance control will compensate for changing soil conditions ensuring maximum detection depth at all times. The tough 15" all terrain coil provides you with superior depth penetration and its open design makes pin pointing a breeze.
