I'm in the beginning stages of planning a float/canoe trip down a particular river. I determined where the start and stop of my first trip would be.
I started to google earth the entire distance, and will print, cut and paste into a running map which I can mark as I go.
I found as I went switching from map, to satellite, to terrain, some interesting points. One such is called "Whiskey Hollow" It is not a town or community, and is only shown on the terrain map as such. It is at the confluence of two creeks that in turn flow into the river. There are no modern or current roads to it and can't even discern any trails at highest zoom.
Now I check the history and see what I can find. This looks like an interesting MD'g spot. There are no houses or inhabited areas around. Looks like it was a good place for moonshine years back. It has piqued my curiosity.
Can't wait.
