I am pumped. This comes from a tiny stream that empties farmed unplowed fields. Dont know of any other gorgets from around here after the 60s. Was hopin to get a name for it. Ive heard bowtie gorget but dont know if thats right. Either way im all excited. Only peice like this ive seen in all my buds collections. Glad to share with fellow hunters. Its only drilled from one side. Heartbreaker for sure but really good for being in water for who knows how long.

Thanks its got me all pumped up

Re: Looky Looky

What a neat piece congrats ,question for the experts why are the holes offset or not inline ?

Was wondering that myself. Ive seen others this way before.

Would be alot of effort to shape a stone to a likeing then fudge up the holes some are inline others offset makes me think of lashing option?

That's an Adena Quadra Concave Gorget. Drilling from one side only was an Adena trait. As to why they are off set it could any numbers of reasons. Maybe that's just where the Drill started and they went with it.

Thats all kinds of awesome.

What a nice find! The damage in my book is not all that serious. Certainly not a heartbreaker.

WTG!

Hey artorius your close to me. Do you guys up there find many pendants or gorgets? I guess we dont since we hunt water so much.

Thank you. Glad we have such knowledgable people. Puts it round 1500 - 2500 yrs right?

Hi Besit:

In 17 years of collecting in Southeastern PA, I have found only one small piece of a bannerstone. No axes, celts, pendants, or anything like that in my area. Just chipped points and tools.

I have collected a field up by the New York border that occasionally yields a celt, but they are scarce as chickens' teeth up there as well.

I dont mean to be a thief but im stealing the phrase as scarce as chicken teeth. Awsome

That is an awesome find. Congratulations!!! Thanks for sharing.
