I found a cellar hole while hunting this winter and decided that I should investigate it come springtime. Last time I went I found an 1836 Large cent. I spoke to my brother who also hunts the woods and he told me he's also seen structures like the one I showed him.
So today I got in my Nel Snake coil for my AT Pro and I just had to go out and try even though it was raining. I found a buckle right off the bat almost exactly where I had put my coil down to get ready to hunt.
My next find is coming up as a 85 to 87 on my indicator but I'm also getting an iron tone. Since it's so littered with iron I decided to dig it it was only 4 inches deep anyway. I got really excited when I saw this.

At first I thought it might be a Rosie but as soon as I picked it up I knew it was too thin to be a dime but the diameter was exactly the same. It appears to be a 177? Spanish half reale. (Im not sure, this is my first old silver.
I ended up finding two more cellar holes. So I'm going to have a lot of hunting in those woods over the summer.
In all I ended up finding two Wheaties, two large cents (one is 1826), two musketballs, a spoon, a little silver looking thing (which I have no idea what it is) and what looks like a dandy in addition to the silver coin. Here are the pictures from the hunt and after a little cleaning.

Great finds! From your description it sounds more like a 1 real than a half real.

You recovered quite few nice targets.
Congrats on your first Spanish Silver.

Sweet find. Could be my eyes but looks like 1772! [emoji2]

I think I see a 1772 on it as well. All are nice finds!

Congrats on the old silver and other nice finds

Great finds! Obviously the silver is awesome but the dandy button came out looking pretty nice too! Gratz

What a great well rounded hunt. Congrats on the Spanish silver and the 2 large cents even if rough. I'd be digging every little signal.

Congratualtions on the very productive hunt! :occasion14:

Congrats on the Spanish silver...I love that dandy button...very nice design....can't wait to see what else turns up there.

Thank you everyone! I wish I could change the subject heading. It makes it sound like I found a coin minted by one of the colonies not Spanish silver. :-(

Great finds! From your description it sounds more like a 1 real than a half real.

I think you are correct. It also looks like it was minted in Mexico.

It's tough to see but I think the last digit is an 8 or a 9. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1460086611.786305.webp
