I keep reading posts about the Aces not finding silver. I do not own an ace - however I do own an older GTA model and freedom model and have found many silver coins 6 inches and less. I still hunt parks and other public places - not much silver to be had there. Not too long ago I hunted some private property with permission. The home was built around the turn of the century. Apparantly - a metal detector had never been used there as we came out of there with over 30 silver coins - plus one small cache of wheaties.
In one city park where I live I dug a civil war bullet that registered just above trash on the discrimination. This park is close to a creek just below the town. After searching for about three days - my partner and I came out of there with at least 100 civil war bullets - buttons - and one confederate buckle. Not bad for a cheap Garrett Detector!
The bottom line here is - you need to search new areas. I have made many great finds in open fields (farm land). Many one room school houses were once on farm land. Farm land is great - not much trash to be dug! Your imagination is only limited by you. Yes - I still detect parks and schools - but my expectations are not great when I do. Garrett makes a great product. If you expect to find silver with any detector, then the coil will need to be passed over SILVER!
