I've been metal detecting for 1 year now and I'm just starting to realize the thousands and thousands of digs Are finally paying off. I actually found my first buffalo nickel a week ago and then the next day I found another one. Today I found two more and 1943 war nickel and they were signals that I would've never even known about or thought about digging a month ago. These particular two were hitting 49 through 68, 5"'down

Congratulations on some great finds. Time spent and holes dug does pay off!

High tones are easy targets, the mid tones are more of a challenge. Sounds like you've learned how to sniff them out with your ATP. Isn't this the best hobby ever. :icon_thumleft:

It is amazing!!! Being raised in New Orleans everything is about the thrill. There's everything down here drinking, drugs, gambling and food! Lol I was so good at the first three, I had to quit 15 years ago. But metal detecting gives me the same thrill as a casino. It's a lot more interesting, a lot cheaper, and I get the same rush. I cherish this healthy hobby, that of course, I obsess over.

Good for you. It's a great thing to learn something new.

Occasionally I dig every signal just for the fun of finding out what it may be.

You have the discovered one of the truths in the hobby... the more holes you dig, the more likely you are to hit a keeper.

If the place isn't too trashy, and it is older, dig all of the repeatable signals. You will be amazed at what you find... yeah, there is a lot of trash, but when you look back over six months of digging, you will not remember the trash, but will remember the treasure!

Best of luck to you brother!

Glad you dug those nice nickels. I know there's a lot of different signals out there. Have about 2 pounds of trash from the other day for 3 hours of detecting.
