Low reading silver

Went to camp Cody and got reading 12-23/22 and dug it up and a coin like object came came check it again and same reading . Got home and cleaned and and did a acid test ,it's positive for silver and I believe it's a barber dime . I'm thinking why it reading so low any ideas???

Probably since it's so corroded or has been in a fire.
 

Dimes that are worn thin typically read lower for me on the CTX. In the low copper penny numbers.
 

Ok thanks RobRieman I never seen that before I was going crazy wondering such a low reading,
 

It can be weird, I have found nickel's as low as "10" on the Safari, but I believe it was that they may have been on edge.
 

I did a air test and it's giving a 12-22 vdi, hummm
