Every once and a while I’ll get lucky and find a “War Nickel”. I can usually count the number war nickels that I find on one hand during an entire season but during my last two hunts, I found four. . . plus, a 1912 V-nickel and a Chinese “cash Coin” from the Qianlong Period (1736-1795).

My only explanation for these recoveries must have been that I was paying more attention to the “low-tones” than usual.

Thanks for looking!

Excellent job fellow TH'r. Sometimes the low tones are all that's left for the most part.

Congrats on the great finds.:icon_thumright:

Hey congrats on the nickels! :icon_thumleft:

Nice job on digging the mid-tones! There is a lot of keepers in that region...Gold Too! :occasion14:

Great job on the war nickels. Believe it or not i have not picked up a war nickel in over 2 years! Found lots of silver and plenty of nickels but no war nickels.

I always dig low tones, because I dig everything ! Nice job on all of the nickels.

Nice nickels. Congrats

Awesome finds. I am from Deerfield and recently found three V nickels and one buffalo paying attention to the low tones. Let me know if your ever down for a hunt, I am a 22 year old college student at DePaul.

Nice score on the 4 War Nickels, a V Nickel, and a Chinese Cash coin. Keep after them!

nice yep low tones gold nickles and much morr gotta dig em

Digging those tones you will dig more tabs and foil, but you will not be missing that handful of beauties and there is gold in those tones.

Keep swingin.

My Etrac is a nickel magnet. Once I got zeroed in on the tone, they began to really fill the finds pouch. Some days, more nickels than anything else. Ten war nickels last year alone. The Equinox picked up right where the Etrac left off...but more buffs than ever before. And deeper.
