As I was getting started on the beach this morning, a guy came running over to tell me he had lost his sterling silver claddagh ring near the lifeguard chair the previous night. He said he had to run but he would swing back in an hour to see if I found it. So I went to work looking for it, but I wasn't getting any silver tones on the Deus, normally in Fast I'd be looking for an ID in the 90s. Lots of trash, so I started working my way down through the numbers, 80s, 70s, 60s, nothing but caps and pull tabs and pennies. Then I got a strong 55 on the screen and sure enough there it was:

No markings and the ID suggests it's probably not sterling, but if he believes it's silver that's cool. He never came back though, so I let the lifeguard at the chair know I was dropping it off at lost and found at the beach house. The attendant there loved the story, so I left it in her hands:

As I was leaving, one of the other lifeguards who was listening told me about an engagement ring that was also lost on a nearby beach. She said her friend had someone else search with a detector, but he couldn't find it. So we exchanged numbers and I'm hoping to look around there later today. I'll post if I have any luck,

Thanks for looking,
Steve

Great job! Yes, please let us know if the return was successful so I can nominate you for an Honorable Mention!:hello2:

Very Nice!!! Good Job!!! Congrats!!!

Nice find and hopefully a return! :icon_thumleft:

Nice Steve! In my very first year of detecting, before we met, I found a WWII uniform button and returned it to the family of the veteran. As nice as it is to be able to line our own pockets with treasure; there's an even greater enjoyment that can be experienced by reuniting people with their possessions that they thought were lost forever.

Thanks for the replies you guys, though I wasn't there to hand over the ring myself Bethany at the front desk told me the man who lost the ring came in about an hour after I left. Happy to give a treasure back to its owner. Off to look for the diamond...

Honorable Mention vote! Way to go!!:headbang::skullflag:

How do you vote honorable mention? I have not voted for it befor but this definitely seems like something for honorable mention.
