My old was made from a very cheap shovel and broke after a few months of heavy use, so I got a regular old (but quality) shovel from my boss. He broke the handle and had no use for it.

I drew the shape and size that I wanted, then cut it out with a cutoff wheel, then welded it on to the T-Handle that I made for the shovel that broke.

I really like the way it turned out, and it's SUPER strong!

Talent at its best

Is it heavy ? They made shovels to last back years ago. Nice job.

Great job mr.Helton!

Awesome, I was just thinking about making something like that, just got a new welder in the shop

Nice shovel.

I want one like this:

Narrow blade - 2-1/2" wide by maybe 8" and a rugged cross bar a foot from the tip. On a shaft (ash or tubular metal) long enough to act as a walking stick. Serrated on one side for roots. Thick, folded or ridged blade that can be used to lever up a plug or snap a small root without bending and the cross bar for foot power assist. A boar-spear rugged super trowel.

Most people see you with a shovel they're afraid you're going to be digging fox holes on their property. This is a coin & button shovel for little holes a foot deep - maybe even just plugs.

It looks good I made a similar one out of an old GI shovel. One suggestion I have is if you can widen the top T part where you foot goes it may help. My foot was killing me after the first few hours of using it. I have since added two pieces of angle Iron to it to make it about an inch and a half wide.
