This morning I went through all the clad coins I dug up yesterday rinsing off the dirt. To my surprise while going through all the nickels I found a 1943-S silver nickel I dug out of yesterday's park! I'm usually pretty good at identifying all my coins while in the field, but this one I missed! Make sure you know what you have before throwing it into the clad pile! Also dug up a 59 Rosie, 5 wheaties, and a silver ring. The silver nickel was just icing on the cake that made a good day hunting a little better!

The boy scout neckerchief slide looks like an older one. Nice find.

Hate to say it, but love that your war nickel has the same weird corrosion that happens when I occasionally dig one.
First time I thought it had road tar on it.
Thought it was just me.
I've gotten to the point where I'll scratch the back of the nickel with my finger, in hopes of that big ole mintmark.
Kudos!

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Reminds me. My first IH was thrown in a pile with a bunch of clad. It was a 1903 and I didn't realize till over a week later that I had found one!

I actually tumbled a silver Washington last year by mistake. They don't always come out of the hole shiny.
