Got that ohhh crap another bit of scrunched up foil signal, in damp sand. It’s a volleyball court after some rain. It’s was a choppy signal but not as powerful as a pull tab.
It was so hot the sweat was dripping into my glasses, pretty miserable so nearly gave it up. Persisted and found my first ever gold ring, it’s ten Kt and very light but hey it’s a ring and gold. I’m going to keep it just to remind myself how close they sound to bits of decomposed foil. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1535825806.484757.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1535825821.654814.webp

Dig it all baby! Congrats on your Golden Ticket!:hello2:

I dig all my foil.

Thanks everyone.
I’m sipping in a beer thinking if everybody metal detected, there would be no trash. Lol

Wow, I got a thumbs up from crusader! Better than the ring! [emoji482]

Congrats on your first gold ring! More will follow:icon_thumright:

may this be the first of many "choppy signals" then...nicely done!

Congratulations on finding the gold! There's nothing like finding that first gold ring. And I don't recall ever digging a signal on land that I said to myself with confidence that I'm digging up a gold ring, it's always a surprise. I've been pretty confident on my signal being a ring when water hunting but when hunting on land it's always a welcomed surprise.

My last gold ring sounded just like a pull tab at 2 inches. Not even sure why I dug it. Great find!

Congratulations! It takes lots of hard work and a little luck but eventually the gold pops up. And yes, its always a surprise when your expecting another piece of can slaw or pull tab or piece of foil.

I have found a lot of gold over the years and most of them were signals I could have easily passed up. You got to dig the trash if you want to get all the treasure.

Congratulations on the first gold. There is a lot more out there so keep swingin and go get it.:icon_thumleft:

Like others said - Dig it all - then you never have to wonder what you missed
lot of white gold - especially small white gold - will go off as a lesser tone or get discriminated
I have many examples - but one is a drained pond I went to when I was younger (like 1980) - I found out
too late and like 30 other hunters got in there before me - I hit it any ways - place was a war zone
holes everywhere - I had an all metal machine - at this time period most adults had expensive
discriminating machines and most were discriminating nickles along with caps and pulltabs
little did they know they were discrim. white gold too - I found a white gold wedding band and a small
white gold ring with 2 diamonds in it and like 7 nickels (and lot of tabs they passed) - I ran into some other hunters and dropped them down and they got crappy signals on them or none at all - so I learned that lesson early

That's very generous of you, but I'm just an over excessive obsessive Asperger Detectorist, like many others.
My thumbs up was for 2 reasons;
Part of detecting for me is all about the 'firsts' of anything; gold coin, button, whatever. So congrats on your first.
Its also about learning & you have learnt a valuable lesson with that experience.
