A local guy that I know drives a bread van or truck every day around here. He covers a pretty large area so he is on the road all the time. He witnessed a buck being hit by a truck up the road. As he approached the accident, the guy in the truck took off, leaving the "dead" deer lying beside the road. The bread man slows down and looks the deer over and decides since he is nearly done with his route, he wants it. He said that it looked pretty clean and good and so he slid the big side door open and managed to get it loaded. He thought that he had done quite well and hurried along to finish his route. He was in the edge of town when he realized that something was happening behind him in the van. The "dead" deer was struggling to get back on it's feet inside his bread truck. He pulled over as fast as he could and jerked the sliding door open just in time to see it come flying out. He said that the next time he would make sure that the deer was actually dead LOL. He was happier that it didn't have time to tear up the inside and remaining bread.

I would say he was lucky!

I'd bet there are laws against hauling road kill in the bread truck.

I dont see anything wrong carrying doe in a bread truck. Really !!!!

I also don't see anything wrong with bringing home some buck$.

That made me laugh and the story reminded me of this 911 call...It's hilarious.

I hope it works, I've never tried to attach anything like this here.

**It might have colorful language from the caller since it says unedited.

In Maryland, the deer needs to be tagged by the state. I have seen more than 1 person being yelled at by police when they stopped to cut antlers off bucks, which is slightly different.

I don't want any blood shot road kills but I carry a bone saw in my truck for antlers. Gary

i work with a guy that tries to get all recent road kills - he has given # to all police depts around his town
to call - not only deer but practically any thing you can cook
he holds a "road kill" cook out every year for boyscouts

In Australia If a kangaroo gets hit You phone it in and the road Kill is yours to take home. Roo is delicious

Now that's a very "fawn"y story ! Good thing he wasn't hurt.

I've heard of people putting deer in there cars thinking there dead and getting bit. I was detecting in the woods and came upon a deer I mean inches away it lifted its front leg and made a noise like a sheep we both went number 2 then we both bolted l

Remind me not to buy bread from this guy..

Got that right
