Managed a keeper from the local "hunted out park"
Hey guys. Well I’ve been waiting for work to start next week and have gotten bored and decided to detect some places that we tend to snuff our noses to at this point. For example, our yard.
lol I couldn’t believe I was just wandering around by the sidewalk and got a bottlecappish kinda hit, and it turns out to be a 1909 wheat (no VDB). It was pretty funny how it was just under our noses this whole time (and our house was built in 1963
). Anyway, the other site is THE park…the one that’s 5 minutes away that has been strangled to death by detectorists and clubs for a long time. Well there are plenty of baseball fields in the park and I just picked one of the outfields that we had found a silver dime or two in last year…and I was being conscious of my speed, trying to slow down and listening to the iffier signals, not that the stuff gets TOO deep in the park, but I still think it helped me to pick up the signal of the 1899 IH around 5”. It wasn’t a very good signal, but it’s not like it was totally broken up or just a few crackles or something…I just think I could easily miss it if I didn’t go slow enough, especially since sometimes I get in the habit of only listening for the higher VDI’s, like the 80s and 90s that could mean silver. I know a lone IH is no huge deal, but it was just sweet to find my 2nd IH of the year, and at a challenging site to top it off. Hope yall have some luck out there too, HH!
Got this little train at my grandma's and wanted to squeeze it into a post just for the heck of it.
