This I pulled out of 1800's cellar hole. I wasn't going to take it home at first, but my treasure buddy said that I should. Turns out this pot was made by a local pewter craftsman from Maine, his name was Rufus Dunham. I have read that he was quite a big deal in the pewter business, handmaking each and every piece in the late 1700's and early 1800's. This one has definitely seen better days. It didn't seem right to leave it out there in the wood.

Nice find!! LOL if you don't want it, mail it to me! Jk.
cool find and HH

It's actually a very nice and significant find. Marked American pewter from that time period is hard to get.

Nice find! If you found that with a detector I hope you ears have recovered!
