Map overlay

Good morning everyone,
I have a question I'm sure someone here could help with,Does anyone know a way to overlay old maps over Google Earth.I have researched some old houses that were built in early 1800's and were gone 70 yrs later and am having a hard time finding,I've looked quite a bit but are eludes me.The are is thickly wooded.Any thoughts?
