I found a Mason's degree from the York Rite. It's the highest degree a Mason can get. I am just now learning about the piece. Pretty interesting! Found in a Gold mining town in Colorado. He was not in the local directories. I would love to know more about it. I posted it on the what is it page but just learned from Google. very nice and you know that it was sorely missed

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

It is not the highest degree, but very nice, what you have represents the Mark Master degree, the initials in the center are the original owners mark, which he records at the lodge after he received the Mark Master degree

Thanks Alan for shedding some light on it. I will have to go over to the lodge and see what I can dig up. I have been reading all kinds of things. It would be nice to step back in time and witness the event. Pretty neat little keystone. I'll try to research the gentleman further.

Of all the degrees offered, I was moved the most with the Mark Master degree

Thanks Dirtlooter, It must have been thrown out with the trash somehow. It was in an old layer in a roadside dump. I don't think he had it very long. I better put it somewhere safe:)

So... Is this assumption correct for this piece. The Mason's were formed during early Christianity. One would have to be trained or get some type of degree from various branches of the Mason's. Then during a ceremony you would receive this piece and be told what the meaning of the letters meant. And if you told someone what it meant, you would have to kill them.
Jeepers Smeepers... I think I will unclick the solved buttun in the what's it section.. what do you think. Hiram Tyrian Widow's Son Seneth To King Solomon. H T W S S T K S
The true meaning of those words makes a pretty good "what's it"

The piece you have is known has the keystone, it was created by Thomas Smith Webb sometime around 1810, the symbol that is, Webb created the York Rite. From the looks of your piece, I think it is from 1940 to 1960

The piece was found in a very old layer and has the date of 01. I am pretty sure it's from 1901. Thank you for your information. How many people today would have this title?

It very well could be, the quality of the engraving is fantastic, most of the ones I have seen of that age were engraved by someone with far less talent.
there are a lot of Royal Arch Masons, it is quite popular among the fraternity, it is the next degree, called an ancillary degree, which is available after the member is raised to Master Mason.

Thanks Tommy I think it's Freaking cool too! I tried looking in the directories for Cripple Creek, but I'll look in the neighboring towns. I emailed the lodge this am but haven't heard back.

Thanks RV, I was sitting at my little store and the weather was so nice yesterday. I kept saying to myself the summers flying by you better just close and go out for a few. Glad I did!

Awesome relic, congrats! :occasion14:
