Mayan Knap in

We had the Second annual Mayan End of the World knap in today near Lansing, Michigan. Last year was the first knap in held on the actual day the world was suppose to come to an end. I know, just a bunch of rock breakers trying to be funny.

I hope this fits the requirements to post as we are making future artifacts for collectors 100 years from now!!!

Lets see some. Here are some I took a picture of out of a collection of a friends. Smithsonian examined them and said it was some of the finest work they had seen. Looked exotic to me

Google: Art of Ishi and you will see some modern art. My buddy Mike is second to none with talent. He has been knapping the animals of Noah's Arc. I am very fortunate to have Mike as my knapping mentor.

We sat in a cold shed all afternoon with 20 degree weather outside. I tossed Mike a piece of multi colored red glass that I picked up at a knap in, in Ohio last summer and told him he could have it. This time of the year he knaps a lot of hearts which are made into necklaces for Christmas presents. I thought that is what he was going to make. While I was working on an arrowhead out of some Texas chert he made beautiful red cross necklace for my 7 year old grand daughter.

I also appreciate the art but do not have the skill. But I tried it to learn reduction stages and steps. Why you are so good at reading pieces I guess. Feel free to share anytime. How do you like those south of the border pieces? I think they have a poison dust cached on them to protect them.

i have a friend who takes me to some of his places he is allowed to hunt on,he does not take me often because he can not find them,well he gets mad and starts to make them instead and he is pretty good i think. i will try to find a few he gave me and post them if jon does not care
