Hi everybody..I'm posting this question here because found this artifact in the same spot I found some copper spikes, copper sheathing, cannon balls and other artifacts the may indicate the presence of an old shipwreck. And knowing how many very knowledgeable members this forum has in this subject I believe it is my best chance to find help identifying it. At first I thought it could be a lapel pin but there is no much detail in it so it looks more like a piece of decor perhaps for a furniture piece or something similar. I did some quick cleaning with lemon juice to try to reveal some of the details..the measurements arte in centimetres and and these artifacts has been found in a Caribbean island at shallow depths of around 6 to 10 feet. Lots of copper spikes and other metal parts incrusted in the reef with I won't touch because I don't want to break them.
Cheers!

I believe you are right..appears to be a brass drawer pull..I found an article stating that if sand was used as a mold it was casted from mid XVII to beginning of XVIII century. The one I found seems like it was casted in a sand mold judging from the irregularities in the surface on the back side, but I can be wrong , it could be cause by corrosion and deterioration under the ocean.
Here is a picture of a modern replica that isn't an exact replica but imitates the design of what a found.

It will be interesting to find out what type of furniture was on board of the different types of ships back then.. I found some Spaniard coins in the area , copper marvedies , but they are in terrible shape with no visible date. I guess the presence of spaniards coins doesn't warrant that the ship was Spaniard but it could be a good tale tale in my opinion .
