I am relatively new to this hobby, have been enjoying my Ace 250 very much, and I still have a lot to learn. As a woman, I feel sort of outnumbered here, but I read the forum all the time, and you guys (and gals) are just terrific. So , I have a question...recently, my sister-in-law and I discovered that we were both new MD'ers. She has a Pioneer (?Bounty Hunter?). We were talking about planning a beach trip together, how to's. etc, and she said that her owner's manual said not to use the detector in the house, something about microwave and TV interference? Also hers said to take off all jewelry while MDing. Can anyone comment on these things, as I MD wearing my rings all the time and have practiced in the house before also. What gives?

I have practiced in the house also...just walking around to see what different signals and tones the MD gives off.....hasnt affected my hunting....I am still not finding anything...LOL
As far as jewelry...depends on how much you are wearing.I remove all jewelry and watch, just because I dont want to lose or damage what I have from digging....you usually grab handfulls of dirt and scan over it,so if you are wearing rings,whatever...beep beep beep.
Learned the hard way...dig and scan..beep beep....and couldnt see anything ...this went on for an hour... with signal strong...until it dawned on me that as I leaned over the "now large hole' my silver pendant was swinging out of my top and causing the signal to go off...duh ! Now there was a treasure chest......LOL....
I always put my hand digger in my back pocket ,to keep it out of the scan......and lose it alot! Which is why its now painted orange......

you will find out what they mean when you r down digging.
and the coil is close to your jewelry. it will throw you way off.
that coil will detect the false target being your rings, watches. etc.
i do not use a seperate pinpointer (my ace is on the money)
and because of that i set the coil right by my hole. to put the
dirt clumps past it.

Hi Loui!

I've been trying to post here for the last 5 minutes and finally it locked-up on me. This site is getting so slow I thought I was going to have to mail in my post LOL! ;D (just kidding Marc).

Anyway, by now you have your questions answered I'm sure.

Welcome to you and the best of luck! 8)

I never wear jewerly on my right hand because I use this hand to wave clumps of dirt over my coil after digging a target.

BTW Zeb, you may try defragging your HD and searching for hidden adware on your computer. This helped me out tremendously!
