hi all i started mding this year n really havent found any real great spots to hunt n i was wondering if anyone out there could help. im from macomb. i've been to the beach n most local parks but none has produce alot of keepers. i have been lucky to have found my frist gold class ring n my first n second siliver coins (1943 mec, 1930 buf nick). plus if theres any other mder's from around here that would like to team up that would be great. just to let u know i dont get to go out to much with being a dad n with the wife working. thanks for any help u could give n happy hunting

Welcome to the hobby. I started this year as well. I've been going mostly to Pontiac State Park. There, I've found a lot of clad, my first gold, my first (and 2nd, 3rd, & 4th) silver, a couple of rings, some interesting smaller relics, and about a zillion pounds of trash.

I've also hit some local township parks, with limited success. I do have a really cool spot that I got permission to hunt: An 1850's train depot. Problem is, the whole area is loaded with iron ore rocks, it's right next to an electric substation (lots of interference) and the digging is incredibly hard (packed gravel over decomposed asphalt over more packed gravel.)

Check out this link for Michigan specific info:

Good luck and happy hunting.

thanks for the site davisdog its helpful n macomb is in macomb country gypsyheart im not to far from the air base here. thanks agina for the replies n hh

Wow You have alot of history in that place....all those first fur traders etc.....I would definitely get down to the library and search old trade routes, settlements etc and then go dig them.,....

The first settlers in Macomb County were located in Harrison and Erin townships. These townships were settled between 1758 and 1800 by the French and the Tucker family. Clinton Township was settled between 1782 and 1800 by the Moravians and Judge Clemens, as well as the French. Armada, Macomb, Lenox, Shelby, Washington and Bruce Townships were settled in 1820-1840 by people from New York state, Vermont and other eastern states. Chesterfield Township had French settlers by the date of 1796 and gradually by 1845 influx of German settlers began in most of the Macomb County communities.

Treasure Atlas Number 5.

Macomb County

Located near the greater Gratiot school on the E edge of the lot on Gratiot Ave, just north of Roseville, is a suspected cache of treasure. 2 old guns were accidently found here several years ago. It is presumed that the treasure was buried by a band of outlaws who operated in this area long before the school was built.
