Last Sunday me and my middle daughter went for a drive up in the hills. I knew I had to do something outside of watching the Bronco's play, as I just didn't feel like watching them go against the Packers would bring me much enjoyment. We packed a lunch and headed up hwy 285 to Guanella pass and over it and took a little tour around Central City. She had never seen Nevadaville and she enjoys old ghost towns, so we drove up to it. Not many dreams of striking it rich around there anymore, though a mine engineer I know told me there's still a few rich deposits he knew of from some exploration drilling he was evolved with some time ago, but it's just too costly to risk any venture to mine today he told me, so I guess it'll just remain there below for now. I'm thinking a lot of dreams of that place were all eventually laid down below as we wondered through the old cemetery.

Nice! Looks like there are still a few tailing piles?

There's a few old holes in the mountain side around there and probably a few nuggets that are still hidden in the washes also. There had been some good size gold nuggets found in the area that are now in the Denver Museum.

Then there is a good chance to find some nuggets in the tailings, and possibly some prospector stashes?

I see that you went to the cemetery did you see some unique head stones some of the carvings up there are very unique if it was the one for Black Hawk.

Yeah it was the one in black hawk with a few interesting Victorian era headstones. Quite a few infant deaths I noticed and young men, who may have lost their lives in the mines by rock falls and consumption from getting rocked-up from many hours on end running a widow maker. It's one of the more eerie cemeteries I've ever walked through. It's totally engulfed in quaking aspen and narrow pathways going in all directions. Be kinda challenging to walk around it at night by candlelight ya know.:icon_pale:
