REPUBLIC PILOT WINGS: almost 2"W brass. C8. The radio show "The Adventures of Jimmie Allen" aired from 1933 to 1947. It was sponsored initially by Skelly Oil, then Richfield Oil as well as many smaller companies. Cool find.
Don.....

ok i know about the wings im more interested in the last pics :laughing7:

Is it a thimble? Could someone of a certain size stick their finger in it?

VPR

Possible

Its a Brass Butt Cap used on flagstaffs. There's a pic of one in Crouch's Book on pg. 63. I've found quite a few of them over the years :icon_thumleft:  There are slight

variations to them depending on when and who made them but its a good solid pre-war/Civil War era relic :icon_thumright:

It went on the bottom of the wooden flagstaff pole and would protect it from being splintered and broken on the bottom end. A screw would go through the hole to fasten it tight.

At least You are giving your self good chances of a signifigant colonial find ! this keeps the hunt more interesting ! Nice finds ! MaineRelic.
