I like these stories because some of these small virtually unknown stories because you never know where it can lead you? I searched George H Ireson in the Massachusetts US town and vital records 1620-1988. He appears to be a real person who do died near the town on Melrose. He was born in 1854.

The main problem the location seems to have gone from a country town to a suburb with a lot of redevelopment which makes it hard to establish where his shack once stood.
