First, had the opportunity to meet and hunt with a gentleman that has been a tremendous source of knowledge and helped many TNet members with id'ing their finds - DCMatt! Only had a few hours to hunt and the finds were sparse. However, I did pull a US buckle out of an area I had searched many times before. This is the second Union relic I have found on this Confederate farm - DCMatt solved the mystery for me
- I had not considered that the Union Troops, coming from Winchester to burn the farm, would most likely camp at least overnight near the farm for both logistical and intimidation purposes. Matt found what appears to be a barrel/crock spigot. The tap is gone but clearly see the valve inside. I'm looking forward to having Matt back out to the farm and finding some more good stuff.
