Hunted Big River Beach in Mendocino. Best find was a new guitar capo. The beach is soft sand and a scoop worked well here. Do not turn your back on the ocean ! High tide takes 1/4 of the beach away here and large waves can come out of nowhere. My wife thought it was funny to come 3000 miles to dig up another Hot Wheels car...

Walk the base of the cliffs and look for pockets of black sand. Dig them out to the bedrock and work them down with a pan. you might just be surprised at what is left in your pan.
