Rewards of Merit (ROMs) have been part of the American educational system for more than 300 years. Typically on paper, either printed or in handwritten form, teachers bestowed ROMs on deserving students in recognition of classroom achievements, good behavior or exemplary attendance.Sorry, I can't ID the specific subject of your token though it may appear to be a teacher standing in front of his class.
