Detector(s) used
Garrett ACE 400; Equinox 800
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I gave myself an Equinox 800 for an early Christmas present, much to my wife's chagrin. I've been using a Garrett 400 and like it a lot, found a ton of artifacts with it but wanted to try something else. Took it out after watching a few videos on setup. Went to the site that I have gone over and over and over with the 400 and pulled out 10 buttons, a drawer pull, piece of silver possibly jewelry. The Equinox definitely gave me more depth, especially through the pine straw layer in the woods.

The silver piece is interesting, not sure what it is though

A couple of nice gold gilt cuff buttons

One button had thread still in the eye after over 200 years in the ground.

You guys are killing me ........Think I'm getting same as last year..... more coal.....

That silver looks like a fragment of a colonial buckle. Nice find

Nice finds, congrats! :occasion14:

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I don’t know how many times it has to be said...Multi Frequency machines are the way to go these days with not as many things to be found as before and with more modern trash mixed in. Even if you’re hunting the field or a woods...their ability to negate the effects of the ground signal itself leads to deeper depths and more accurate ID(when coin hunting anyway).
My estimate is that you never pick up the 400 again, sorry to say. The 800 is just superior in every way, and you’ll prove that to yourself next time out, just to reinforce that it’s not a “fluke” or a “lucky day”.
Welcome to the Dark Side....:hello:

Glad to see that you got yourself the 800, MB!
I did the same for the 600, feeling slightly guilty, but what's life all about anyway?
Love the new technology.

Good going! Looks like you got a lot of extra juice out of that site with 800. Good luck with your adventures!

Great finds with your new detector.
This is an interesting piece, any idea what it is?

Looks like you made a nice upgrade in equipment. Quite the haul of buttons, especially given that they came from a well hunted area. Congrats.

Great finds with your new detector.

I believe it is a large drawer pull. Here are a couple of other angles. I assume it had a glass or paste face.

I notice that Cru has 'liked' your post with the additional pics, I can only assume he agrees with you that your find is a drawer pull.
But I have another theory on what this may be.

Why don't you post your find here... What Is It? and see what the others think your find might be as well.

It does seem too long to be a drawer pull. I'm curious about Dave's theory.
