I found this arrowhead back in November along with the 54 cal. round ball and 36 cal. Minie at the site of an Indian massacre. The point is 2"s long and I believe it is made of copper. The field was still full of cotton stalks which made detecting very difficult. I hope to hit it again when the farmer plows it.

thats a great find but not sure that it looks copper? Here in northern wisconsin we dig alot of the old copper culture relics and that is very similar but something don't look right on it?????? maybe no patina? Most of the copper we dig is at least 3000 years old and this looks much newer and more refined. looking at the picture I would guess that if it is indeed a arrowhead its a modern version that maybe a tribe member made up. The points we find here that are similar are actually spear points as the copper culture people did'nt have bows and arrows. Its a very interesting find no matter what and if you google "old copper culture" you will learn alot more and see alot of great pictures of some spectacular artifacts. Keep up the good work!

It's a historic copper conical point made from kettle scrap. No doubt about it. A jangler or tinkling cone would have an open end for cordage.
Looks like you have a good spot to work in the future.
Nice find! :icon_thumright:
