Metal clip help.

I found these seperately, but in the same area. Any ideas what this is? The area had civil war and war of 1812 soldiers.

Looks like a fish plate of some kind, but I don't know what for.

My guess is a belt or strap connector.

Are they brass or copper, and were they stuck together when you found them? Breezie

I am confident its made of copper and I found them in different areas on the same beach.

Adjuster might be the wrong word but they went to the US regulation belts

Yes, VaYank is correct. The US adjusters were brass. Here is a website with pics:
