So one of the places here in town that I've been drooling over for years has always eluded my permission...
This morning, I drive by in my work truck, look over....
And I see this BIG GIANT BULLDOZER..... First tear into the front porch...
Holy crap!!!....It's being torn down! :headbang:
Panic sets in. I had all these big plans on up-selling my accounts, going the extra mile, and running extra stops to make my week easier.... So much for that....I gotta hustle!

So after blowing off responsibilities, skipping stops, and mailing it in.... I get to the site at 3:30. Workers say no problem, only after they leave at 4:00.... Sweet!

As expected, the site was a mess, but the front yard was relatively untouched, even tore up a little bit by the bulldozer and dump trucks...

And wouldn't you know....it was a clad fest.:BangHead:

The house was built in 1914, I know there are more goodies there, gonna keep an eye on it, hoping they will scrape off the top sod layer....

The only keeper, was this sweet Chevy tag, I think it's a hood ornament, and an old one at that.
After I post this, I'll look to see if I can get an age....from what I can tell, it has porcelain letters, or could be enamel....it's heavy.

And thanks for looking!:hello:

Congratualtions on the nice Chevy emblem! :icon_thumleft:

From what I just looked up, brass, and enamel,.... A radiator emblem from a Chevy truck, dates between 1929-1935...

OUTSTANDING!!!:headbang:

Treasure is never where you think it is, it's where you find it. :)

At least you got the chance to try there! Think about what it would've been like if you had happened upon this place after it had been completely paved over. ;)

Found either that same Chevy emblem, or one very like it, a couple of years back. Even in rough shape they are better finds than the coins we search so hard for. Nice hunt.

Paved over is right....they are gonna build a massive high-rise along the waterfront, this place is just in the way...
The main sight itself used to be the old American Legion building, burnt down 20 years ago....
I would love to beep that, but seems unlikely, protected site, heavily marked no trespassing....

I'm guessing accidents and Small road Closers Will Be Diverting You By That Site Regularly:icon_thumleft:, HH Chug Hopefully the Silver Gods Shine There

The dog tag has a phone #, so I call....woman says it was her old house, dog is still alive.
House was in her family for 3 generations, 58 years....
I can keep the tag she says....I'm keeping the clad too.:laughing7:

Dave--glad the chance didn't pass you by! Congrats on your finds. -Lisa & John

Way to jump on it Dave. I like that Chevy emblem.

Man,, you just might have hit a Gold Mine. Or maybe a Silver field. Good luck with your future hunts.
Congrats on your finds.
