Metal Detecting Gear - Do any of you use a vest?

Hello,

Last year, I used a molle belt that went around my waist. Attached to it was my predator digger, pin pointer, and a nice big pouch to carry all of my necessities.

After months of use, I noticed that it really started to bother my hips, especially after it became heavier.

I can't go through another year of hardcore hunting like that.

I've been looking at some military vests, but nothing is catching my eye just yet. They don't look like they'd be too comfortable on the hot summer days.

Do you know of a good vest or system that would be easier on the body?

Some construction workers wear suspenders on their tool belts, you could try that.

Suspenders make a big difference on the belt. You can pick some millitary ones from a surplus store. I was given a hunting vest as a gift. So far it's working out ok. Only thing is I don't realy have a place for a pinpointer or digger. I will probally switch back to the belt suspenders when the weather turns hot. No place on the vest for two canteens.

I have a light fishing type vest for summer, and a heavy vest for cool days. Together with cargo pants, and a finds bag, lots of in the field storage!

I use a hunting vest. Large pouch in back for all of my silver finds.

A dove hunting vest is good. Or a sporting clays vest. I found a Banana republic vest that has a million pockets with mesh back. All of these are great for adventures.

I made myself a vest, like a fishing vest with copious amounts of pockets. Some are zippered to hold keys and cell phones so they wont get lost. Some are velcro closures., some are huge pockets, some are medium and some are small pockets. I added snap hooks to attach different tool holders, and pockets in the back for drinks. It is priceless when I go hunting. Holds everything from tissue, washcloths, all my finds, gloves, small flashlight, knife, extra batteries, bug spray, you name it I just about have it. Then I even wear my belt with my other pouch and toots. I fill up my pockets according to where I am and what I think I may need at that hunt. I am so happy that I made it.

I do this and it has helped a lot highly recommend anyone trying this.

I had thought about a fishing vest but after wearing one for hours while fishing they would get hot while they have many pockets most of them are not really that big. well I usually pack junk out with me so a few cans or pieces or iron would soon fill up those pockets .
but I guess they would fill any pocket fast if you keep it all .

I use a military belt with my pouch on and several pouches that fit the belt and also picked up a pair of suspenders that attach all military issue and all under 20 bucks so you can add pockets take them off and my belt is really not a belt as it's not tight on my waist just holds things lol.

may have said to much but I'm sure I said enough lol.
one of my buddies don't even use a pouch or vest carries his in pants pockets and shirt pockets so I guess it's what ever you like .

I wear a nice one made by 511 Tactical. It has many pockets and has a breathe through back. One the best made for sure.
