Metal detecting in Ottumwa, Iowa

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help a fellow metal detector enthusiast. I?m going to be in Ottumwa, Iowa for a couple days here in the very near future. I?m traveling up along with my son; he?s coming up for a job interview. We are from Southern Missouri and I was thinking about bringing my metal detector along and doing a little detecting if it isn?t to cold because I really don?t want to set around the Hotel room all day by myself. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about any laws about detecting in one of the local parks there if any. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
