Anyone have information on detecting rivers and streams. Who owns the ground under the water? I live in up-state NY and there are a lot of old swimming holes and old bridges, or fords. Places not in state parks or special use areas. The streams are open to the public, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking etc. Not around any historic protected places like battle fields or such. I have fished some of these places over many years, no problem. NO posted signs. In fact there are parking places for fishermen to park and get there car off the road. Some local people still swim in some of the deeper pools. Any help would be appreciated.

Go for it! Been detecting these types of spots for years! Good luck! :icon_thumright:

I've been wanting to detect rivers, lakes and Streams. Looking for a Diving hookah.

Watch out for NY, anything they find out you have found and they'll lay claim to it because in NY the state owns all navigable waterways ! Just lkke trying to make amining claim there, they will immediately lay claim to any minerals you find on land not privately owned.

I knew about New York owning any gold discovered but not about Navigable waterways
