End of this month I am planning to go to the Grand Cayman on vacation. I am wondering what the laws are on metal detecting there. I have purchased a Pelican Case and plan to check it in that way. Have been doing some checking on the internet and sounds like they frown on detecting there. Went to Cozumel in 2000 had no problems there. Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I'm sure you will be fine as long as you follow the common courtesies (avoid private land etc). You will find trouble however if you find and try to remove items of national historic value.

Be sure to post your results when you get back and let us know how you packed your detector and what customs said etc.

Cheers!

Contact the hotel where you are going, they will give you permission or point you to the right people. You probably are not the first to ask. You may need multiple permission grants if the beaches are all private. Good luck and show us what you find.
