Ok, so it's not old, but I will go take pics after the rain to show you. Found in the gold foothills of Nevada County,CA, a pile of 2inch by 3inch squares, very thin. Hiked up much further,(1/2 mi?) and found three airshafts from a mine, and found that 4 trees had this metal piece put into them. Perhaps a mine marker, (never found the actual mine, yet!) marker for what? It was a triangular tree pattern, approx 20-30 feet between the trees. Shafts were air, not mine, certain of that. Shafts were to the right of the tree markings, not in it. Any thoughts?
