My daughter text me photos of a ring she purchased today at a TS. It was priced like most sterling rings would be at around $8 and change. I told her I believe the PT900 mark is to indicate it's a 90% platinum alloy. It also has a mark of CB twice on it. I'm not familiar who CB stands for. Maybe you know that one RC.

Good score!

I don’t recognise that ‘CB’ mark and suspect it to be very modern. Those are more difficult to track down and it may not even be American, which adds to the difficulty. Many of these ‘high-end’ rings are purchased on cruises or from foreign sellers on the internet, where the requirements for country of origin marking aren’t necessarily respected.

I hope it’s genuine and I’m not doubting it to be platinum or that it’s diamond set (more likely to be lab-grown than natural) if those are stones I can see rather than just reflections, but suspect it’s a cheaper copy of this ‘Renaissance’ design from the Hollywood, CA master jeweller Philip Press:

Philip Press has been in business since 1991, but no longer sells that particular eternity ring and doesn’t use a ‘CB’ mark. Even so, assuming it to be genuine, it still has substantial value.

Thanks!. I suspected it wouldn't be all that recognizable and also a more recent maker.

Yeah, she likes looking for deals. She wasn't really sure what the PT900 mark is. Still I'm not a 100% on it being platinum until its tested. I would not be surprised if it was some kind of rhodium plated sterling silver from China. I've seen a few of those out and about, but also they were marked China.
